Educator / Crafter / Designer
Learning new skills through experiences with others gave me the confidence to teach. Calling upon my interpersonal skills I shared my practical sewing knowledge with a focus on environmental awareness. This knowledge on repurposing fabric led me to teach sewing classes to the community, at schools and the local library. As a teacher, I enjoy the focus on learning with others to give students a sense of belonging within an interactive group dynamic.
Serendipitous times in life have led me to events that have assisted in my creativity journey. By applying curiosity, imagination and reflection throughout my crafting adventure, I have developed a holistic approach to making which expanded a natural desire to learn. I have become a lifelong learner by studying which has helped raise my awareness of environmental considerations in crafting. Reflecting upon my use of repurposed fabrics and materials in my designs.
Design and Photography
The images presented throughout this portfolio I photographed using my Canon EOS Rebel DSLR with a Canon EF 24-105mm lens, Nikon Coolpix P900 (so good for travel) and my Apple iPhone. The images capture personal projects documented throughout my life. For my students, I create video tutorials to give them an understanding of their learning outcomes. I like to document experiences for my personal blog, where photography has always been a huge part of my life.
